Power of Expression is a Christ-centered space where young people can find healing, strength, and purpose through creative expression and community. Power of Expression uses creative platforms to express emotions, trauma, and pain, and also provides an emphasis on reentry support for youth. We believe God has given every youth a voice, and through that voice, they can transform pain into power and testimony into triumph.
“For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal.” — Job 5:18 (NIV)
Power of Expression
-
Creative Expression
Young people will have the opportunity to explore different routes and platforms to express themselves. This will include collaborations with local businesses and entrepreneurs for young people to participate in activities centered around journalism, video production, droning, and writing ranging from poetry to music. Ages 10 and up are eligible to participate!
-
Parent & Family Engagement
We believe in walking alongside families on this journey of faith, healing, and growth. Each month, we will host family gatherings to build relationships, strengthen trust, and provide encouragement rooted in Scripture. Families will receive:
- Updates on navigating the challenges of the carceral system.
- 1:1 progress updates if your child is enrolled in programming.
- Referrals to case management and tools to build Christ-centered, supportive home environments.
-
Youth Advocacy Board
The youth advocacy board is a youth-led advisory ministry where students come together to grow as leaders in faith and service. Members create initiatives to improve their communities, advocate for justice-impacted youth, and offer God-centered solutions to modern challenges. Through prayer, collaboration, and restorative justice circles, board members help peers work toward peace, unity, and accountability. Youth must be 13 or older to join.
